Where Do We Go From Here: New York Jets Week 3 Recap

As a still fairly new blogger, I learned a valuable lesson during the Rangers latest playoff run this past spring. Never blog with raw emotion, and let things settle in before putting pen to paper cause these words are forever. So I decided to take a few deep breaths, a full day, and a step back before talking about what happened yesterday.

That being said,

I tried guys, I tried as hard as I could to support the pretty boy from Utah but tape don’t lie. Zach has to make big boy decisions and he has the inability to do so as quick as a studly QB needs to. We all knew this would indeed be the case we truly did deep down, but I was blinded with hope after the hard knocks episodes we watched thinking he turned over a new leaf. I think it’s safe to say he’s not going to. And it sucks because it’s all not necessarily his fault, he’s not helping but the onus is not all on him. I also do not fault Saleh for staying behind his guy in the media despite the overwhelming response to sit him, he’s doing the right thing by staying confident in Zach. But that being said, I do think it’s time we start shopping around because things may still be salvageable for this year and a certain QB that shops at Kohl’s may serve as a great 14 game rental.

Like I said, it wasn’t entirely due to Zach’s bad play, scroll through jets twitter and you’ll see that being a common theme. There were a bunch of drops that shouldn’t have happened, not to mention we were a cock hair away from actually winning that game if Randall Cobb wasn’t ice cold and could’ve held on to the ball.

Also, if you don’t want to blame the “young” (quotations since he’s no longer young and is in his 3rd season) you can look no further than the abysmal offensive line. Long gone are the days of the sturdy foundation of D’brickishaw Furgeson and Nick Mangold, I have no idea what the hell this is but it is unsustainable. The worst part is there’s nothing we can really do about it. Offensive linemen don’t get traded, we just have to chalk this up to “something to work on in the off season” and call it hoping that we can snag some studs in the draft. It’s crazy because a good friend and fellow jet fan said to me going into the season how bad the line would be but I didn’t think it would be this bad, this is dangerously bad.

I said it to anyone who would listen to me bitch, Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t have done too much for us with this being the case. Fucking hell, if this offensive line had a lick of competency his Achilles wouldn’t have been torn in the first place.

The defense is playing serviceable and making big time stops when they need to like on those last few Pats series to end the game. This is really shaping up to be a repeat of last year unless we make some changes. And the worst part is, we have the weapons, some might argue too many. I’ve screamed from the roof tops as much as I can about our running back tandem (even though they can’t do anything cause there’s no blocking) but they need to be utilized a lot more than they are. And Garret Wilson aside, we have a very solid receiving core that is also being under utilized. Mecole Hartman isn’t Tyreek Hill, but if we use him correctly he could become a very productive receiver.

Yesterdays game was ugly, and not just by us, the pats did not let good. Do not let any mass hole or front runner fan from the Brady era try to tell you that the Pats owned the Jets because they absolutely didn’t. The Pats have their own demons to fight and they’re in for a rude awaken much like we’re going through right now. It was a tough game to drop because it was divisional and despite our woes a miracle win would’ve gotten us to 2-0 in AFC East play but now we’re treading water and I think we’re screwed. The dolphins look too good, the bills are hitting their stride, and we have to just accept that we’re never going to beat Belichick.

Do you guys remember how awesome it was to have hope? Those few weeks going into the season where we were counting down the days until Rodgers and the boys took the field for the dawn of a new era. I miss that so much, it was such a great feeling to have actually having something to look forward to on Sundays but here we are doing the same song and dance we’ve been doing for the past 10ish years. I can’t say all hope is gone for the year just yet, but at least we’re not the Chicago Bears right?
