With the New York Football Giants stinking it up on Sunday night, the spot for “top dawg” in the NY/NJ area is up for grabs. How will Mr. Rodgers and co. respond? How will the Jets assert themselves into “serious contender” conversation? Buffalo is no joke, winning the division for the past 3 seasons now they are the kings of the east until proven otherwise. When TB12 left Foxborough the power slowly shifted west into Orchard Park, where Josh Allen has made hell for the rest of the division just like how Brady did for 2 decades. The assumption for most Jets fans was that they would spend another 2 decades hoping and praying for a Wild Card spot…..until Aaron Rodgers showed up to 1 Jets Drive wearing green, and not Packer green, but god damn New York Jets green! The pictures and videos and memes are all well and good, and hopefully most of you enjoyed the show on HBO’s Hard Knocks, but now all of that is over. It’s time to show up and ball out. Rodgers’s first test? Request that the rest of the locker room discount double check’s their egos at the door, and plays fast, hard hitting, competitive football for 60 minutes on national television tonight.
Buffalo isn’t the invincible juggernaut they were 2 seasons ago. As of late, Josh Allen and co. have shown some serious warts. It seems offensive genius Brian Daboll had a significantly bigger impact on that offense than we had originally thought. In the end, my takeaway from this preview is that I don’t believe the mountain is really all that high. The Jets defense is legit, and the skill positions on offense are STACKED. If Rodgers can be 3/4 the quarterback he was in 2021 (his most recent MVP season) the Jets can absolutely win tonight, and the division to go along with it. You walk out there and take down the Bills in front of America, people are gonna start talking about this team and organization in a whole different light. The New York Jets are more than capable, its time to nut up or shut up. Kick some ass and get this season started right!
