I can’t even sugar coat this or look for a silver lining, these guys look like dogshit. Not a single member of this team is living up to their expectations. And everyone can cry about the starting pitching all they want, we scored 8 runs in 3 games. We just got shutout in game 3. This is definitely the lowest we have seen this team in a long time. Pre Steve Cohen, there was little hope walking into each season, so if the Mets looked bad walking into Mother’s Day, that was normal. But man, forget the payroll, just look at the names on this roster, we can’t find a single run in Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon? I’m not gonna sit here and break down this series and look into the next one. At this point, if they continue on this trajectory, some of the guys wearing blue and orange aren’t gonna have a job too much longer.
Buck Showalter: How do you go from winning manager of the year with 101 wins, to this pile of shit we’re watching night in and night out. This teams looks out of energy, and everyone stepping up to the plate is trying to hit a 5 run homer. What happened to fundamentals? Small-ball? Manufacturing runs? Any sense of pride whatsoever? They can’t manufacture anything but Mark Vientos and Ronny Mauricio are in AAA putting the ball over the fence every night, I mean at some point you have to try something even if its unorthodox. The current group of guys can’t get going, what sense is having depth if you’re in a 3 week tailspin like this? I’m not saying to fire Buck, but typically when teams have a stretch of losing this bad, changes are made, you don’t have to look far for an example (Philadelphia last year). If we have another week of bad baseball I really don’t see a world where Buck Showalter is the manager going forward.
Starling Marte: This guy is looks defeated and straight up disinterested. How much more do we have to see? At what point is Buck gonna sit his ass down on the bench and let someone else play? When he makes contact, he isn’t hitting it hard, and out in Right Field he looks lost. He’s been pretty bad all year but these past 3 weeks are a whole new low. I’m tired of watching it. If Mark Vientos really isn’t any better than what we are seeing from Marte, then call him up and show me. He’s either playing hurt, he’s no longer good at baseball, or he just straight up doesn’t care. Either way it’s a detriment to this team, and as a fan base, we deserve better than the shit show we are currently witnessing in Right Field. Win some fucking games already, or bring up the young kids and give them the playing team, let’s get something productive out of the 2023 season. But, as always, as frustrated as we may be, LFGM!
